The last school dedicated was Woodlands School on the west side of Huron in 1971. It originally served as an elementary school for children who lived on the west side of town. It was named after the Woodland Indians, which was one of the first tribes of Native Americans in Ohio. The name was suggested by second grader Greg Finton. Today the school houses grades 3-6.
